BHYC enjoys a full and fun racing season. Summers in Maine are short, but we get the most out of it that we can. In addition to a Thursday and Saturday racing series, you can find a regatta or race for any sailboat and racing class. Most races and regattas sponsored by BHYC are open to both BHYC members and non-members. From the fun Chamber Pot Regatta to the 38th annual Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club, we hope you will will come race with us this summer.
Around Southport Race
July 8, 2012
The Around Southport Race was resurrected in 2011. One of the really fun events of the summer, the race between the sailors of the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club and Southport Yacht Club had not been run in many years. Area sailors were excited - and astounded - when the original trophy, a black garbage pail, was located. The 2011 race started in Ebenecook and finished in the vicinity of Tumbler flasher, with races run by SYC. In 2012, the direction will be reversed.

Lobster Run
July 27-31, 2012
In 2008, The Corinthians Association, in cooperation with the Stonington Harbor Yacht Club and the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club created a natural rounding-out of the North Atlantic ocean racing scene with the Lobster Run.
To be held every two years, in even years, the race appeals to those who also do the Marion-Bermuda Race, or wish to prepare for it, as well as yachts returning from the Newport Bermuda Race who wish to cruise in Maine in August.
The race is a US Sailing sanctioned Category 2 event, with ORR, PHRF spinnaker and non-spinnaker divisions.
The start will be off Stonington, Connecticut. Competitors will round the Nantucket Shoals buoys and finish at Boothbay Harbor, Maine. The course length is 332 nautical miles. It will be a "navigator's race," with a choice of passing to the north or south of Block Island, and a similar decision with regard to Squirrel Island near the finish.
The Classic
August 24, 2012
The Classic is an informal, fun "race" intended for full keel designs, heavy cruisers over 25 years old and the classic Boothbay Harbor One Design (BHOD) sailboats. The event is open to BHYC members and non-members. The course is typically a figure-8 around Squirrel and Burnt/Mouse Islands using a pursuit start.
