BHYC enjoys a full and fun racing season. Summers in Maine are short, but we get the most out of it that we can. Most races and regattas sponsored by BHYC are open to both BHYC members and non-members. With so many options, you can find a regatta or race for any sailboat and racing class. From the fun Around Southport Race to the 39th annual Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club Regatta - and in 2013 the Maine State Opti Championships and the USA Junior Olympics Sailing Festival - Northeast Youth Championships, we hope you will will come race with us this summer.

'Round Southport Race

One of the really fun events of the summer, the race between BHYC sailors and the Southport Yacht Club was resurrected in 2011 when the original trophy, a black garbage pail, was located. Will BHYC reclaim the trash can in 2013? Click here for more information.
USA Junior Olympics Sailing Festival - Northeast Youth Championship

The Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club is very proud to announce it will be hosting the 2013 USA Junior Olympic Sailing Festival - Northeast Youth Championships. The event is one of a nationwide series of regattas for youth ages 8 to 21 with the goal of promoting the enjoyment of sailing and skills development, as well as provide an Olympic pathway for talented junior sailors. The event will mix Olympic-style competition with elements of learning and fun for all levels--from beginning racers to those with Olympic aspirations. In 2013, 30 events are planned in the continental United States and Hawaii and over 4,500 sailors expected to participate. Junior Olympic Sailing is coordinated by US Sailing and sponsored nationally by West Marine, Gill and Sperry Top-Sider.
2013 Maine State Opti Championship
On August 8 & 9, 2012, young sailors from all over the State of Maine gathered at the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club to race in the Optimist Pram, or "opti" in the 2012 state championships. Held every year since the early 1990s, and hosted by clubs around the state, we were proud that by Jax Van der Veen's taking the overall championship in 2012, we will be able to host the 2013 Maine State Optimist Championship on August 1-2, 2013.
39th Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club Regatta
August 3-4, 2013
This regatta is a premier event on the Gulf of Maine Racing Association (GMORA) sailing circuit, with participating boats ranging 17 to 80 feet and with crews from 2 to 12. Click here for more information.
The Classic
July 19 and August 23, 2013
The Classic is an informal, fun "race" intended for full keel designs, heavy cruisers over 25 years old and the classic Boothbay Harbor One Design (BHOD) sailboats. The race is free and open to all. Click here for more information.

BHYC Club Racing
Members of BHYC enjoy several Club races and regattas, including:
- The Commodore's Cup, the premier annual series for BHYC and BHOD Association racing sailors.
- The Chamber Pot Regatta, when grown men and women squeeze into tiny Optimist sailboats.
