TennisJUNIOR TENNISClasses meet Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Master Beginners instruction is from 10:30-12 and Junior Beginners from 1-3:00, except on Friday when class ends at 2:30. Master Advanced classes meet Monday through Thursday from 5:00pm through 6:30pm. LADIES' TENNISLadies Tennis offers a clinic and round robin play from 9:00 to noon on Wednesdays. The courts are reserved on Thursday afternoons from 3:00-5:00 for Ladies who would are interested in additional round-robin play. MEN'S TENNISThe courts are reserved from 8:00 to noon on Saturday mornings, and from 3:00-5:00 on Tuesday afternoons for Men's play. For more information contact Alan Burke 633-4670, Men's Tennis Chair. MIXED DOUBLESFriday evenings, beginning at 5:00 the courts are reserved for mixed doubles round-robin play. Appetizers are served at the club following play for a nominal fee. BHYC TENNIS COURTS RULESGuest fees are $10.00 per session, per person. It is a member's responsibility to enter both their name and the guest's name in a guest log. The guest fee must be paid by member's check or exact cash to the custodian of the sign-up sheet prior to play. The custodian will mark the guest log "paid." Should the custodian not be available, the guest log will not show payment and payment will be collected later from the member. The BHYC member must be present while their guests are on the court. Members are defined by Article II of the By-Laws. All others are guests. An adult member is considered 16 years of age or older. Clay courts are generally quite soft after a rain. Before attempting to play, please perform the following tests just inside the court door:
If a noticeable indentation is observed by either test above, please DO NOT enter the courts for any reason. Tennis shoes, smooth sole appropriate for clay courts must be worn. Running shoes, hiking shoes, boots or bare feet may cause serious damage to the courts. When playing is finished, you are expected to perform the following procedures:
Courts will be closed each day for maintenance between 12:00 Noon and 1:00 PM. TENNIS RESERVATIONSReservations may be made by a BHYC member only. The names of all players will be noted on the reservation form. Reservations may be arranged THREE DAYS in advance following these procedures. Sign-ups must be in person or by telephone to the tennis office between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and between 10:00 AM and 12 Noon on Wednesday. The reservation sheet will be at the tennis office during those hours. Please do not make back-to-back reservations. Play may continue if the court is open during the next period. Players who have not played before have preference over those who have. Tournaments & Junior Program events will be announced as early as possible and will take precedence over recreational play. Walk-ons must relinquish the court at the next scheduled time slot. If others are waiting to walk-on, the court must be relinquished at the beginning of the next time slot. If the players do not appear for their reservation 15 minutes after the scheduled time, walk-ons may take the court, but must sign the schedule sheet and guest log prior to playing.
