On the Water

BHYC's heart is our waterfront.

Members enjoy daily steward service to their seasonal mooring or space on the dinghy dock, organized cruises, easy access to the Club's sailboats, dock-side kayak storage and an easy-entry kayak float, and a variety of large and small regattas and races through the season.

Visitors to Boothbay Harbor and BHYC are welcome to join us for regattas and Wednesday night races, or learn to sail - or hone your sailing skills - with the US Sailing certified BHYC Adult Sailing classes. Local or visiting youth can also join us for a week or more for tennis and sailing with the Junior Program - or race for the spring or fall season with the Boothbay Region sailing team.

  • Mooring Rental
    • Visiting Boothbay Harbor by boat this summer? We have guest moorings available from 1,500 to 3,000 lbs. Our club stewards provide launch service from the Club's docks during the season between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, or sunset when that is later. Beginning September 3, until decommissioning on September 29, launch service will be available from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Visitors may use the launch service, wi-fi, showers, laundry, tennis, and bar and dining room. Mooring fees are only $40 per night for vessels up to 60 feet. Water and electricity are available at the dock. Dockside depth is 14 feet at low tide. We're a short taxi ride into town, or a 1.3-mile walk. Coming in a group? We offer a 10% discount for six (or more) visiting vessels.

Not a member of a yacht club? No problem - our guest moorings are open to all!  Easy bookings via Dockwa. Hail us on VHF 09 when you arrive in the Harbor, and we'll show you the way.

  • Kayaking
    • The beautiful harbor environment of the Yacht Club provides a perfect location for kayaking. Kayaking is a sport that can be enjoyed on many levels, by beginners and experts alike. The physical activity of kayaking provides vigorous exercise, while the ocean transit invigorates the mind and spirit.

Members regularly gather for guided trips and group outings, or just informal paddles with friends. Members can either use their kayaks or rent from our local outfitter, Tidal Transit. Trips may include minor fees, depending on the length of the guided trip and whether one is providing their own kayak. Member excursions range from easy coastline explorations to more challenging island trips, as well as participating in the Southport Rowgatta. Past trips have included visits to Little Green Island, Capitol Island, and Burnt Island.

Members can rent space in the conveniently located racks at the club. Contact the Office for more information.
