The Boothbay Region Yacht Club sponsors the Boothbay Region (High school/Middle school) Sailing Team. The team represents schools in our area (currently Lincoln Academy, BRHS and BRES) in fleet and team regattas against other schools throughout New England, predominantly in Maine. Sailing is the only recognized co-ed sport in high school; our team is open to both boys and girls.

In addition to the racing team, the BHYC offers Opti sailing for intermediate and higher-level sailors in the spring and all levels in the fall season, typically for a five-week season, meeting twice a week. The Opti is generally the right choice for sailors from age 9-12 and under 110 lbs. who are comfortable enough in and around the water to sail an Opti single handed.

There is a $300 fee to participate in either program – the Sailing Team or Opti Sailing. We do not want cost to be a barrier to participation; fees may be waived, up to the full program fee. Please submit your waiver application at least one week prior to the start of the program. Note: Program registration is required; fee waiver requests will not be considered for individuals not yet registered.

Information provided on this application will only be available to the Junior Program Finance Committee. Applicants will be notified of any fees waived by email.
